Lilly’s Losers

October 19th, 2017

            Hall County High School Football

Lilly’s Losers had a tough week picking pigskin battles last week! There was an excellent offensive game at the Lion’s Den, but Gruhn’s Pride could not take down George Walton. The posh Marist School put out the flames of the Hot Gates of West Hall. The Sky Blue’s down at Johnson put a good fight but lost another hard game against Clarke Central. The soaring Falcons won a field goal battle somewhere in Loganville; Big Red was not even close to big or ever in the game against Dacula. The North Nation has now won two in a row, and they are getting better every week.

Johnson VS Beach:

The Knights will mount up on their trusty steeds for a long trip down to Savanah to play Beach High School. This will not be a day in the sun, and the night will be even worse for the South Hall kingdom. The hosts will kick sand in the face of the Johnson me all night long in this battle.

Lilly’s Loser- Johnson

Gainesville VS. Winder-Barrow

The slobber dogs of Winder are undefeated and ranked #7 in the state for the first time in a long time. They will welcome the visit of the Reds because it will for sure be win #8 because the Elephants are not very good this year. They did not even bother to show up and try last week. So, Winder will win again.

North Hall VS. Greater Atlanta Christain

The Mean Green have to attend service in Norcross for a choir practice with GAC. So far the altar boys of not had any grace on Hall County teams. Maybe they will have mercy on the Trojans and let them score a field goal Friday night. That might be the only holy thing to happen for North Nation during this lopsided matchup.

East Hall VS Dawson County

The fur skin’s of the East will row up to Dawson County to try and plunder the land of Bill Elliot and outlet stores. It is getting close to Christmas, so the Vikings may find some discount sales going on, but they will have to pay the full price on the field. The plundering stops because the Norse men are banged up from so many battles.

Lakeview VS Hebron Christain

Lakeview Academy of Lions will welcome the Hebron Christain Lions to their den this week. These two big cats will fight it out for the superiority of the jungle and the litter box on Limestone Parkway. Look for the holy cats to win this game and send the Academy back to school.

Lilly’s Loser- Lakeview

Flowery Branch VS Clarke Central

The Horticulture school has been planting their Falcon flag all over the region this year. Clarke Central will come in with the baseball coach turned headset man looking to stop the growth of the Branch. However, the soil is right down in the bird’s nest, and the Falcons will once again take down another prey.

Lilly’s Loser- Clark Central

Chestatee VS White County

The Sardis War Birds might be the king of the North this year, but they must stop another Northern neighbor from invading the birdcage this week. The blue boys of Cleveland will cross the border and take down the high scoring offense of the War Eagles. Look for there to be a BBQ with pheasant as the main dish.

                                                                               College Football

The chickens of South Carolina won an ugly game that will be the death of Sargent Carter up at Tennessee. What the heck happened to Aubarn in the second half against the Bayou Bengals? Did they think there was only 30 min of football? That Lock kid over in Mizzu is legit, but he could not bomb the UGA Hounds all-night with big Mel as the DC. Sadly, the dream for San Diego State came to an end at the hands of the blue football field Broncos.

Miami vs. Syracuse: The Orange Guys from Syracuse shocked the college football world last Friday when they declawed the reigning National Champion Clemson Tigers at home.  The Cuse jumped on the Tigers out of the gate and never looked back.  Even so, they are still a 13.5-point dog to Miami in Coral Gables this Saturday.  The Hurricanes are coming off a last-second win against the Atlanta Beehive and look to continue their winning ways against Dino Babers’ boys.  But an upset is a brewing.

Wake vs. Ga Tech: Paul Johnson’s stingers were stung last Saturday in Coral Gables.  Well on their way to another win over a Mark Richt-coached team, the Jackets fell short as the rain began to pour at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.  The devil deacons from Winston-Salem pay a visit to Hotlanta this Saturday.  Georgia Tech is two plays away from being 5-0, and when the final whistle blows against Wake Forest, they will be 4-2.

Coach Dan Mullen got all the folks in Stark Vegas excited earlier this year when his dogs with the underbite chased coach Drano Voice’s Bayou Bengals back to Red Stick, It’s homecoming in Stark Vegas and the likes of Ode Burrell, Hoyle Granger, and Justin Canale will be on campus to see which coed gets the diamond-studded cowbell. Basketball practice has begun in the bluegrass state. Kitty litter coach Mark Stoops still has the folks at the Old Kentucky Home interested in the pigskin. The Kitty Cats control their own destiny in the SEC East.

Tennessee at Alabama

General Robert Neyland, legendary pigskin leader at Tennessee once said, “You can’t tell what kind of football player you have until he plays against Alabama.” Back in 1930’s the Crimson Tide had a player, Paul W. Bryant, that suited up and played a game against Tennessee with a broken leg. The folks that set the odds on athletic contests seem to believe that the Candy Strippers have a good chance against Darth Saban’s team as David did against Goliath. Of course, this is college football.

Lilly’s Losers is in honor of Leonard Postero who created the original Leonard’s Losers. Many fans, to this day, love the wit and humor of his football prognostications.

These musing are just for fun during the high school and NCAA football seasons.

Also, we will miss our friend Shaw Carter. He was a better man than all of us!
