Meet Airman First Class Austin Denton

April 3rd, 2017

When our clients call our office the first voice, they hear is our partner Bobbie Denton. She is the jack of all trades and the problem solver of our group. She is also the mother of three boys that she has raised by herself. Last week her oldest son Austin graduated from the Air Force basic training in Lackland Texas, and Austin’s story is also Bobbie’s story.

When I joined the Dominguez & Jones Wealth Management group, a tremendous honor for me, I got to know Bobbie and her family. Austin was at Jefferson High school, and Bobbie’s twin boys were attending Jefferson Middle School. Austin was a member of the JROTC and was also a leader of the group. Bobbie and Austin were always spending their weekends at Drill Meets that were hours away from Gainesville. I never once heard Bobbie complain, like I would, about having to give up her weekends to drive for hours to support Austin. In fact, all I did hear was how well her son performed and how proud she was of his efforts.

Austin enlisted in the United States Air Force a couple of years after graduating high school, which, I later learned is a family tradition. Bobbie’s fathers, Captain Frank Hughes and TSgt Ken Anderson and her brother, CMSgt Derek Hughes, were/are also Air Force, and that means Bobbie was an Air Force Brat growing up. Austin will now go to tech school for nine months to learn his profession of explosive ordinance disposal or EOD. Wow! Who chooses such a dangerous job? Well, a Denton does, and that is what makes Austin so unique. The job of dealing with explosives is not only dangerous, but it is also terrifying! However, after watching Austin grow up with Bobbie’s discipline, I can see why he is the right man for EOD. Bobbie was a strict mom for sure, I saw it, but she also was a loving mom who has made the difference in Austin’s life. I am certain when the time comes to dispose of a bomb Austin will have the will and the strength to get the job done. As Americans, we should all be proud of our service men and woman. We all should also be proud of the Airman Austin will become in the future. Most importantly, we should all be proud of Bobbie for being a great mom! Good job Airman First Class Austin Denton and good job to “mom,” Bobbie Denton.
